Establishment of the REPDF Consultants Database
Renewable Energy Project Development Facility (REPDF)
1. In support of its Mini-Grid Renewable Energy Project which is jointly funded by Sida, DFID and the World Bank, the Rural Energy Agency will soon be launching several support mechanisms to enhance the development of off-grid electrification projects in Mainland Tanzania.
2. One of these support mechanisms is the Renewable Energy Project Development Facility (REPDF) that provides funding for eligible project development activities for renewable energy (solar, wind, small hydro and biomass) mini-grids with generation capacities of less than 10MW each. The REPDF will pay for a portion of the developers’ external costs of consultants engaged to undertake specific pre-investment advisory assignments (eg. feasibility studies, business plans, social & environmental assessments, etc.).
3. The Rural Energy Agency is now inviting applications from Consultants to be registered on the REPDF Consultants Database, from where eligible Project Developers will be able to choose specific consulting and advisory services for their projects when applying for REPDF funding.
4. Application forms may be downloaded from the REA website under www.rea.go.tz/NewsCenter/TendersBusiness.
5. Clarifications and further information may be obtained from the Rural Energy Agency’s Programme Consultant for the Mini-Grid Renewable Energy Project at the following email addresses:
Mr Francois Viljoen: francois.viljoen@crescogroup.africa.
Mr Ralf Tobich: ralf.tobich@norconsult.com.
6. Completed application forms and supporting documents must be emailed, as soon as possible, in electronic PDF format to amwijage@rea.go.tz and dmalulu@rea.go.tz, with copy to francois.viljoen@crescogroup.africa and ralf.tobich@norconsult.com.
