Uzinduzi wa Mpango wa Kuendeleza Usambazaji Umeme Vijijini

Serikali imezindua Mpango wa Kuendeleza Usambazaji Umeme Vijijini (Tanzania Rural Electrification Expansion Program - TREEP) ambao umefadhiliwa na Benki ya Dunia kwa gharama ya dola za Marekani Milioni 200.

Lengo kuu la Mradi wa TREEP ni kuongeza upatikanaji wa umeme vijijini kwa kuongeza miundombinu ya usambazaji wa umeme pamoja na miundombinu ya uzalishaji hasa wa nishati jadidifu vijijini.

TREEP ni kati ya Programu za kwanza kabisa kutumia mpango mpya wa Benki ya Dunia ujulikanao kama Program-for-Results (PforR), mpango unaojikita kwenye utekelezaji na matokeo. Miradi ya nishati vijijini inayotekelezwa katika mpango wa PforR pia imepata ufadhiri kutoka Serikali za Norway (Norad), Sweden (Sida), Uingereza (DFID) pamoja na Umoja wa Ulaya. Miradi ya wafadhili hawa wote inaratibiwa na Wakala wa Nishati Vijijini (REA).

Akizindua mradi huo, Waziri wa Nishati na Madini, Mhe. Prof. Sospeter M. Muhongo (Mb) Katika Kijiji cha Kwedizinga, Wilaya ya Handeni – Mkoa wa Tanga aliwahimiza wananchi wa vijijini kutumia umeme kwa ajili ya shughuli za uzalishaji mali ili wajikwamue kutoka katika umaskini.

Awali akitoa maelezo ya mradi huo, Kaimu Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa Wakala wa Nishati Vijijini (REA), Mhandisi Gissima Nyamo-Hanga alisema kaya zisizopungua 500,000 zitaunganishwa na umeme wakati wa utekelezaji wa mradi huo. Aidha aliongeza kuwa takribani kilomita 24,000 zitafikiwa na miundombinu ya usafirishaji na usambazaji umeme na inakisiwa kuwa watu 310,000 watafikiwa na huduma ya umeme (access level) kupitia mifumo ya nje ya gridi (off-grid) na gridi ndogo (mini-grids).

National Clean Cooking Strategy (2024 – 2034)

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with various stakeholders has prepared the National Clean Cooking Strategy, which provides guidance for the country’s transition to using clean cooking solutions. The strategy aims to ensure that 80 percent of Tanzanians use clean cooking solutions by the year 2034.
