Lighting Rural Tanzania Competition (LRTC2014) grant award project comes as a continuation of the Lighting Rural Tanzania Competition (LRTC) program. The first project under this competitive grant program was the LRTC2010 which was held in year 2010 followed by LRTC2012 held in year 2012. All competitions under this program aim at increasing access to modern energy services, improving lighting technologies and substituting the use of kerosene and candles for lighting in rural areas. The competition seeks to support innovative and sustainable local-level solutions that improve the quality of and access to modern energy services for off-grid rural communities in Mainland Tanzania and increasing the participation of private sector entrepreneurs in rural energy projects

The Rural Energy Agency now invites eligible “firms” to indicate their interest in providing the services which include provision of Consultancy Services to establish the impact of training and capacity building initiatives in promoting awareness and facilitating investment in modern energy services through utilization of available renewable energy technologies for the period from 2008 to 2013.

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has set aside funds for the operation of the Rural Energy Agency during the financial year 2013/14. It is intended that part of the fund will be used to cover eligible payment under the contract for the Consultancy Services for Training on Renewable Energy Technologies and Business Plans Preparation to Prospective Energy Project Developers.

Waziri wa Nishati na madini, Profesa Sospeter Muhongo na viongozi wa miji miwili ya Hammerfest na Sandnessjoen iliyoko nchini Norway wamekubaliana kuanzisha ushirikiano baina ya miji hiyo na ile ya Lindi na Mtwara. Uamuzi huo umefikiwa katika mkutano baina ya viongozi wa miji hiyo na ujumbe wa wizara ya nishati na madini nchini Norway ambapo wamekubaliana kukutana mwezi ujao kuweka mikakati ya ushirikiano huo.

The Rural Energy Board has set aside resources from the Rural Energy Fund, (REF) for provision of grants towards capital costs of projects during the Financial Year 2013/14. It is intended that part of the resources will be used to cover eligible payments under the contract for Supply and Installation of Medium Voltage Lines, Transformers and Connection of Customers in un-electrified District Headquarters and other Rural Areas in Tanzania Mainland on Turnkey Basis.
